Last Chance!

Hey everyone! I hope you all had a great start to the week. Thank you all for your well wishes for my IT band, I’m hoping it gets better soon! I’m actually off to see a physical therapist this morning for an injury screening, so we’ll see how it goes. Honestly I think it will be my biggest fear: that she’ll tell me I have to stay off it for weeks. Pray for me. Pulease! Gracias. I think someone is trying to teach me that I’m not in control of everything…

**Edited to add: DON’T FORGET TO GO VOTE TODAY!!! I voted absentee ballot in Missouri already! I’m super jealous of everyone’s “I Voted” stickers… I didn’t get one 🙁 **

Anyway, while I’m off figuring that out, here’s a survey that I saw on Ashley’s blog! I’m not sure why it’s called “Last Chance” survey, but it works!

i’m definitely praying for your it band. i know just how you feel in terms of not wanting to be told that you have to rest it, but just make sure you do what’s best for you! addressing injury now is better than being sidelined for longer later! sending you healthy vibes!

  2. Christina

I’m praying for you Katie! The last text I sent out last night was to my friend asking about getting together to study. Good luck at your appointment 🙂

  3. Chelsie @ Balance, Not Scale

Last text: “My bedroom is quite chilly tonight. I’m worried it’s a daunting sign of things to come! Do you prefer gummy Lifesavers or the hard ones?” to Le Boy.
I’m glad that you’re going to physio. I’ve definitely trained through my fair share of injuries for fear of what they might say/tell me I need to stop training — it’s never been worth it.

I’m also sending out positive thoughts to your appointment! Hopefully all goes well! This a cute way for bloggers to give a mini sneak peak into regular life. Last think I texted was to my roomy letting her know tat the couchsurfer we’re hosting is arriving this morning. Happy Tuesday, may it carry good news for you!

I couldn’t run for six weeks bc of an IT/knee thing. In retrospect it wasn’t the worse thing ever. I found spinning and body pump and lifting in general. I only say it wasn’t the worst thing in retrospect. Just ask my mom… I was a NUTCASE for 6 weeks!!! BUT I valued running much more after I was injured.

Lol I already do lifting and I’m not a spin fan… ugh I’m not looking forward to this.

Listen to the Physical Therapist! After my marathon I had to take off a few months while in Physical Therapy for my IT band and knee pain it was causing. I just kept telling myself that ultimately I want to run for many more years and if I need to take a break now so that I’m able to do that it’s totally worth it! You’ll survive!

I hope your appointment goes well today and that you don’t have to take too much time off from running!

Ian loves those chicken sausages. We buy them and he puts them in everything! Using them in spaghetti squash is a good idea, maybe he’ll actually help me eat some squash instead of me trying to finish it all before it goes bad!

Hope everything goes well at the PT!

The last thing I baked was cornbread. Best decision of my LIFE. I’d honestly eat cornbread at every meal if I knew I could do so without risking getting sick of cornbread, which would basically be the worst food thing ever. In the process of baking it, I learned that Trader Joe’s cornbread mix is both fantastic and crazy easy (because I definitely DID NOT have time to make it from scratch), which was also a wonderful discovery.

My last text was “So, we agree to cheerlead the shimmiers?” In regards to a conversation my sisters and I were having about a sorority dance competition tomorrow. As you can tell, we’re not big dancers and are a little skeptical about going up on stage!

    1. Katie Post author

Ahhhh I miss those things!!! Enjoy it! And good luck to your sorority! (Unless you have KD as your competition…)

    Hi Katie,

Not to be a creeper, but I think I saw you at the gym you went to on Sunday! I walked by you and thought that it might be “Peace, Love, and Oats,” but wasn’t 100% until you posted your last post about going to Zumba!

Anyway, kind of random, but I wanted to know what you thought of the Zumba class at this particular gym? I’ve been debating whether I want to give it a try, but haven’t convinced myself to go yet. I guess I’m worried it will involve too much coordination and will be pretty embarrassing? Any insight would be helpful! And I hope your injury gets better!

    1. Katie Post author

Really?! Ah you should have said hi!! I actually really enjoyed the instructor and the class. The room was a little small, but it’s worth $15 to give it a try. No one else in the class was awesome at it (and I definitely wasn’t the least coordinated), so it made me feel a lot better. It was just a fun and supportive environment. I’d totally go with you again when my IT band gets better!

  11. Kathy

I just injured something below my calf but not my Achilles. I go to pt tomorrow to see. I can’t imagine not running. It’s what I do! Fingers crossed for you!
