Hey everyone! Happy weekend! First of all, I wanted to say thank you to all of you for your great comments on my post yesterday. It sounds like many of us of similar feelings and frustrations when it comes to mean comments on blogs.

Now, onto today’s topic – Coca Cola Freestyle Machines! Hahaha okay, I can hear it in your thoughts: um, Katie, soda?! Yea, I would have had the same reaction. I was recently contacted by Coca Cola Freestyle, asking me to check out their freestyle machines. I’d seen them around and was curious but never tried one before.

At first I thought this was a bit odd… me? Soda? I rarely drink it, it’s more of a treat, so I decided to check out their website and see what it was all about. I was surprised to find that it isn’t just soda in these machines, they also have sparkling water, flavored Dasani, and Powerade!

While I was marathon training I drank a LOT of water, but I discovered about halfway through that I really needed to replenish with electrolytes. I’d get awful headaches and found that they were because I was over-hydrating! Powerade and Powerade Lite are perfect for getting those electrolytes you need after a workout or long run. Plus, I know some people aren’t crazy like me and LOVE water, so their sparkling water and flavored Dasani options are great for those of you who need a little more incentive to hydrate.

I used their website to find a Coca Cola Freestyle machine near me, and was surprised to find quite a few! After some studying yesterday I headed to one to try it out. Did I hydrate with water? Well… no. Haha, this was a treat for me so I decided to have some fun.

ALL THE OPTIONS! Let’s be honest, this isn’t about hydration, it was fun. I had to take a picture of the Coke Zero for my mom, she loves this stuff: photo 4 (13)

I ended up getting a mix of diet coke lime and diet coke cherry. Totally hit the spot! I also scared some of the other customers by taking so many photos of the soda machine… I didn’t realize until I was done that people were waiting behind me… Oops.

Oh well! I have a feeling I scare people a lot… You can check out Coca Cola Freestyle on Facebook or Twitter!

**Edited to Add: My friend’s boyfriend, John, wanted to make sure that you all are aware of the superiority of the ice in Coca-Cola Freestyle machines. I can vouch, it was really great ice.**

Have you ever used a Coca-Cola Freestyle machine?

What was your favorite soda growing up? I loved orange soda…

  1. Growing up I never drank soda but in college I start drinking it and can’t stop now. It is really one of my only addictions. I have been trying to cut it out of my diet or at least limit it but it is so hard! I love diet mountain dew and diet dr. pepper. I have never used one of those freestyle machines…I will definitely have to check that out because that looks like a fun way to try new flavors of drinks I wouldn’t normally buy.

  2. The Moe’s by us has one of these machines, so I’ve tried it a couple of times. Jordan thinks that it’s so much fun…I think so too :).

  3. I try to limit my pop intake (yes, pop, I am absolutely Canadian :-p) but I’d love to try a machine like this! I love Coke Zero so I’d have a lot of fun with that one!

  4. i’m not a huge soda drinker either but for a treat this looks like it could be fun!

  5. The first time I ever saw one was at the Five Guys in Oak Park. The only bummer is that I don’t drink caffeinated or diet soda so that removes a bunch of the options for me. But, I still thought it was cool to make flavored Sprite!

  6. I didn’t get a chance to comment on your post yesterday, but as I was reading from my phone, I kept thinking “YES!”, “you go girl!”, and “amen!”. Haha! Obviously I couldn’t have agreed more, so thank you for confronting such a taboo topic that NEEDS to be addressed.

I’ve tried one of the above soda machines once, and they were pretty nifty! Almost overwhelming to me, but way fun!

  7. I have been dying to try one of those machines, they seem awesome. I first saw it on PBFingers and no wish I could find one near me. Apparently they have them at some Chipotles. I can’t wait to give them a try

  8. Ah I was contacted by them too! I love their flavored waters but Ian is all about the crazy soda flavors. I’ve actually used the presence of one of those machines to get Ian to go to Cosi with me. It’s awesome.

  9. I’m not big on pop (where I live, it’s not soda, but pop…haha) but if I get bored of plain old water I love the Dasani flavored waters! Lemon is so, so good!

  10. I don’t have it very often, but every once in a while a diet coke can be SO satisfying!

Those machines are really cook though – I’ve never seen them around here!

  11. Christina says:

I saw a coca cola mixer machine at Qdoba a few weeks ago. It was fun to play around with it. I had diet coke lime and coke zero cherry. It was tasty. I am a big sparkling water fan. I used to be a diet coke junkie but now whenever I want something carbonated I just get a la croix or the trader joes sparkling water (the tangerine is the best).

  12. I’ve never been a soda drinker, except for in college when I couldn’t live without Diet Coke. These machines look like fun!

  13. hahhaha i am laughing at your friend’s remark because i am actually (weirdly) paticular about my ice and i was just looking at that picture of your drink and thinking that it looked like really good ice lol

  14. i love the freestyle machine. since i stopped drinking diet coke i love that there are fun options for how to mix up your seltzer water. that being said – i loved adding flavors to root beer when i was still drinking soda :)

  15. I used to love grape soda growing up although I don’t think I can drink it at all now! Those machines are so fun. I love all the fresca flavors too. So fun!
