2. I have a LOT of new songs that I’m in love with. I kind of ignored anything but holiday music until after Christmas, so many of these might be “old” but new to me!

It’s Time – Glee Cast Version

We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together – Taylor Swift

Home – Phillip Phillips

Ho Hey – The Lumineers

3. For our Chicago Blogger Book Club, we’re reading Heart Sick by Chelsea Cain. If you read and review the book by January 20th, email me the link at peaceloveandoats@gmail.com and include the link to your review at the end of my post!

4. Coconut Oil is AWESOME! I’ve been cooking my eggs in it every morning and it makes them soooo much better! (I’ve also been doing an egg scramble instead of my regular, with either olives or avocado, salt & pepper).

5. I FINALLY picked up the book club book of the month for PB Fingers Book Club and managed to read it pretty quickly! It was somewhat long, but it totally flew by! This month’s book is called What Alice Forgot by Liane Moriarty.

What Alice Forgot is a fictional novel about a woman named Alice, living in Sydney, Australia, who wakes up on the floor of a Spin class with no idea how she got there and who the people around her are. She’s rushed to the hospital where she realizes that it’s 2008. Her last memory is being pregnant, married and in the year 1998.

The novel follows her as she’s reintroduced to her new life, which is starkly different from the one she left. She confused as to why so many of her old relationships had fallen apart, who these three beautiful children are, who her new friends are, and how in the world she became so skinny (she never would have step foot in a gym in 1998, mind you).

I found the book very interesting and really kept my attention the whole time. I managed to finish it in two days, but that wasn’t hard since I could barely put it down! The author really keeps you guessing about several things throughout the book, like how the relationship between Alice and her husband will end up and who in the world is this “Gina” everyone keeps whispering about!

It definitely didn’t end exactly how I expected, but I liked that. I thought the ending was very realistic and happy, and I felt content when it finished. I definitely recommend What Alice Forgot if you’re looking for a new and interesting read, but nothing too intense!

What’s something you’re loving lately?

Do you cook with coconut oil?

  1. mmm coconut oil is amazing!! i’ve been loving avocados lately… i always love them but lately i’ve just been eating them plain – so good!

  2. I had a bottle of coconut oil somewhat buried in my cabinet, but I’ve been bringing it out more frequently lately. I do love cooking my eggs in it!

  3. I love coconut oil too! I haven’t tried cooking my eggs & avocado (my usual morning breakfast) in it yet though… think I may have to try that one. Thanks!

I’ve been loving on raw coconut butter lately & a bunch of new nut butters I got at the store yesterday. :)

  4. I absolutely love cooking with coconut oil. It makes everything better! I also use it as lotion and have found it to be the only thing that keeps my heels from being super rough and dry (random information). That book sounds really interesting. Just the idea of it draws me in actually. I already have 3 books waiting to be finished, so I’m trying not to take on any new ones at this point. I’m currently reading Shantaram. I don’t know if you’ve read it, but it is quite the epic! Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

  5. I recently read What Alice Forgot and loved it! I thought it was a great piece of ‘chick-lit’ but it had a pretty profound message at the heart of it.

Eggs cooked in coconut oil sounds delicious! I’ll have to try that! :)

  6. gosh I really need to try coconut oil, I keep hearing about it but have yet to take that plunge. I need to look into those books, I haven’t heard of either

  7. Just added the book to my goodreads, sounds really interesting!

I always love avocado– especially in salads. I eat at least one a week :).

  8. Caitlin says:

That book looks great! definitely on my kindle list to add :) I have yet to try out coconut oil but definitely plan to do so in the very near future…something I’m loving this week is time with loved ones…never gets old for me :)

  9. I love cooking with coconut oil!

  10. Christina says:

I’m almost done with Heartsick and I love it. I have never heard of What Alice Forgot but it sounds interesting.

  11. Lindsay says:

I LOVE all the Glee songs – every time there’s a new one, I make sure to download it. I can’t believe I’ve never heard this one before. It’s great!

  12. You’re a mind reader – I totally have a things i’m loving post set up for tomorrow!!

  13. Emily says:

I just finished Heart Sick. I read most of it in 24 hours. Really quite good : )

  14. Ahhhh yes, coconut oil. Definitely obsessed. I’ve been adding just a bit to my oatmeal and letting it melt in there. It’s SO good. And gives it the coconut flavor that I love. :)

  15. I just recently signed up for PV Body and I’m super excited to see my first month’s clothes! They should be here this week!
I LOVE coconut oil too…it’s so easy to use in recipes as a replacement for butter or other oils. Yum!

  16. I love that song by Phillip Phillips too!

I keep on meaning to cook with coconut oil more! I’ve used it to make cookies and granola, but I’ve never cooked savoury foods in it. I think I’m a bit scared they’ll end up tasting too coconutty. Do you find that at all?

Lately I’m loving homemade chicken fingers. :D

  17. I love baking with coconut oil. I made grain free muffins last week with them– I also do stir fry with coconut oil- I was at Costco today and saw they are now selling a huge tub or organic coconut oil…!! Love it!!

  18. Marcy says:

i use coconut oil for everything, but especially like it on toast, it gives it a better taste, and i use it when I make almond butter! I also use it as lotion, i add essential oil (patchouli) to mine for a good smell. What Alice Forgot was good! But, I couldn’t even make it through 2 chapters of Heart sick.

  19. I also love coconut oil! I have also been loving my food processor :)

  20. Kaitlyn says:

something i’ve been loving lately are teapuccinos!! Visited Argo Tea when I was in Chicago last week and I’m obsessed w/ the place…too bad they don’t have them anywhere near me!

  21. What Alice Forgot was a great read!
I’ve never cooked with coconut oil but I’ve been coming across a lot of recipes that use it! I’ll have to give it a try!

  22. I read the What Alice Forgot book for the PBF book club, too. I really enjoyed it! I found that I really related to Alice and the story definitely kept me hooked.
