When I first started drinking Shakeology, I knew that it was good for me. I knew it had all these healthy ingredients, that it would help my nutrition deficiencies, and, let’s be honest, it was delicious. Helping my health was enough on its own to get me to pay for it and drink it every day.
When I became a coach, however, I watched a webinar about Shakeology and learned SO much about why it’s important not just for general health, but especially so for women dieting, restricting food, or dealing with any kinds of cravings.

It’s not about weight loss, because weight loss is a by-product of good nutrition! If you’re getting enough nutrients, your cravings will disappear, your energy will skyrocket, you will feel better and be able to be more active without feeling exhausted and drained at the end of the day.
Biggest Misconceptions About Shakeology
#1: Isn’t it just a protein powder?
NO!!!! Shakeology was designed to be different and better than the standard protein powders on the market, created for health conscious person who know they need something more than just protein. The truth is, protein alone isn’t enough to keep you healthy. Your body desperately needs other stuff like fiber, minerals, vitamins, antioxidants, phytonutrients, superfoods, adaptogen herbs, prebiotics, and digestive enzymes (just to name a few) to run at optimum capacity. You could spend more than $700 on supplements, just to re-create all the healthy ingredients in one bag of Shakeology.
While it does have protein, it’s not a protein shake. Most of us aren’t actually protein deficient at all, and it’s easy to give yourself the protein your body needs through basic foods like chicken, yogurt, eggs, beans, and grains. However, we almost all struggle with nutrient deficiencies, and Shakeology is like an all in one dose of goodness.
#2: Shakeology is expensive.
This is my number one battle, which kills me because it means I haven’t been sharing Shakeology’s VALUE. Most people would spend $3-$7 on a healthy meal, yes? Here in Chicago a healthy lunch is more like $10-$15. Shakeology is $4.30 per serving (without the coach discount!), replacing food that you would already be buying anyway AND getting an entire day’s worth of vitamins that your body needs, which means your replacing any vitamins or supplements you may also be buying.
Another important thing to remember: when was the last time you went to your grocery store and bought THIRTY meals all at once? I’ve never bought that much food at once, and if I did I’d freak out because it would seem like SO MUCH! But because it’s replacing other snacks or food I would buy otherwise, it saves me money on groceries. For the price, I can not duplicate its vast quality of ingredients and nutrients.
#3: Shakeology is for weight loss
Shakeology will not make fat magically melt off. Shakeology is about HEALTH. When you put the RIGHT nutrients in your body that it needs to develop, heal, recover, repair and thrive, you will ultimately have MORE energy, LESS cravings, and FEEL better therefore you eat less and become more active. When you’re drinking Shakeology, weight loss becomes a BYPRODUCT of dense nutrition. If you’re not getting enough nutrients, you’re just going to be tired, grouchy and have a ton of cravings.
#4: Shakeology is not a whole food.
Actually, yes it is. Unlike many “processed fake” foods, most of Shakeology’s unique ingredients are imported from their countries of origin, dried and then ground and stored in a bag in such a way that it’s important nutritional enzymes aren’t killed. Think of doing this tedious process times 70. That’s the number of super foods (like wheatgrass, chia seed, goji berries, maca root to name a few) in Shakeology that must EACH go through this process to keep its whole-food integrity.
