How My Health Has Changed

April 21, 2015

Back in early January, I posted about some of the health struggles that I had been dealing with throughout the end of 2014:

"Speaking of all the things to do – I’m also EXHAUSTED. I haven’t mentioned this much on the blog, but after several doctors visits and some blood tests I found out my extreme fatigue I’ve been dealing with for months is from anemia, Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, and adrenal fatigue. #winning. It’s also frustrating because I work so hard with being a coach and following my own nutrition and workout plan, but these conditions are keeping me from losing any weight. Suggestions are much appreciated (and yes, I’ve also tried complete rest)."

I had visited a doctor and gotten some blood tests done, getting the results back in mid-December. My Doctor told me that I had several nutrient deficiencies as well as Hashimoto's Thyroiditis, which is, simply put, the earlier signs of hypothyroidism. This meant my immune system was lowered and my body was producing antibodies that were attacking my thyroid system, which is what controls many of the body's hormones. My doctor basically told me to take vitamins, eat a paleo diet and hopefully that would slow down the development of hypothyroidism.

I drank Shakeology for most of December but not consistently, and then stopped when I traveled to Colorado for Christmas. When I returned, I signed up as a Beachbody Coach and started drinking it every single day. I also stopped my vitamins since I knew Shakeology had more than enough nutrients and I didn't want to overdose with anything. I visited my doctor again, got more blood tests done and in late March found out that ALL of my nutrient deficiencies are GONE!!! AND - the best part: all of the indicators of hypothyroidism were back in the normal range!

I am physically feeling a million times better than I was back in the Fall - my energy is up, I no longer have "brain fog" during the day, and I feel GOOD after my workouts as opposed to physically burned out. I can't believe how much more I can accomplish in a day and how much better I feel now that I've been drinking Shakeo every single day. When you make small changes, often you don't notice the benefits because they come slowly, but when you stop and look back to where you were and where you are now, it can be impressive how much your quality of life has changed.

I know this is a bit of a "Shakeology Testimony" (and yes I LOVE IT) but it's also my way of telling you that the little changes are WORTH IT. You might not notice the change in the first week, in the first month or even beyond that, but it builds up over time and can make a huge difference in your life.

Yes, I still have areas that I am struggling with in my life (no one is perfect!) but this is a victory that I wanted to celebrate with all of you!
