My Word Of The Year

I’m a little late on this post but better late than never, right?

That’s what I’m going with here and this year. I’ve found myself with so many dreams this year (and the past several years) but I always put them off, then I’m afraid it’s too late. But you know what? It’s never too late for your dreams, you might just have to get there in another way.

Which leads me to my word of 2019. The trend of choosing a word for the year has been going on for a while now and these past two years I’ve decided to join in. It can’t hurt, right? While some people choose more specific words, mine is easy to remember and very much worth execution.

My word of the year is “live,” as in live your life to fullest and truly experience what the world has to offer.

Why did I choose this word?

I have a tendency to let life pass me by. I don’t make plans because it’s just easier (and safer) to stay home. I don’t put myself out there and meet new people because I get anxiety about the unknown, about not being in control. I’m so much better than I used to be but it’s still there and I need to keep proving to myself time and time again that if I just give something new a try, it’s almost always worth my time and energy.

This year I want to truly live.

I want to embrace each day.

I want to meet new people.

I want to build on the relationships that I already have.

I want to go on adventures.

I want to pursue dreams and ideas that only live in my mind.

I want to create.

I want to love.

I want to make others feel loved.

I want to find joy in everything I can.

I will most defintiely have moments where I choose to hide out in fear because I can’t just change overnight. But that’s the point of having a word of the year: you keep in mind to push you out of your comfort zone. You do your best to allow it to influence your choices.

So this year, I am reminding myself time and time again to live.

Do you have a word of the year?
